The art of Simone Legno!
Outside Japan, no one else celebrates the concept of ‘Kawaii’ quite as uncompromisingly as the Italian graphic designer and illustrator Simone Legno. This lavish and, of course, vibrantly colourful 400-page monograph documents the cult project ‘Tokidoki’ from its beginnings in 2005. There’s no question about it: this Parma ham of manga culture belongs in every discerning design library!
‘Tokidoki’ is an Italian design collective centred around the Roman illustrator Simone Legno. Tokidoki comes from Japanese and roughly translates as ‘sometime’. Somehow, it therefore stands to reason that Tokidoki’s style is influenced by manga culture on the one hand, whilst also reflecting Italian design tradition on the other.
