‘What you see is what you get, just a guy who loves adventure: Sonic’! Soft toy by Play by Play Toys.
‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ (or simply: Sonic) is a video game character created by Naoto Ōshima for the company ‘Sega’. The blue hedgehog with large spines and a small tail on his back is particularly notable for his speed. He is the hero of hugely successful game series such as ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ and ‘Sonic Mania’. Licensed Sonic the Hedgehog plush from ‘Play By Play Toys’. ‘You’re too slow!’
Sega (derived from ‘Service Games’) emerged from the former American company ‘Standard Games’, founded by Martin Bromley, Irving Bromberg and James Humpert. In 1951, the three entrepreneurs moved to Tokyo (JP) and established the company ‘Service Games’. Initially, Sega imported coin-operated machines for US military personnel stationed in Japan. In 1965, Sega merged with ‘Rosen Enterprises’, which, amongst other things, dealt in mechanical arcade machines. From 1976, they began producing the first commercial video games. Following the production of several highly successful games consoles (Saturn, Dreamcast), Sega announced in 2001 that it would henceforth produce only software (and arcade machines). Play By Play Toys was originally founded in the USA in 1986 by Arturo Torres, but was later taken over by the Spanish company ‘Famosa’ and is now part of the ‘Giochi Preziosi Group’ portfolio. It is particularly active in the leisure and entertainment.
