Works by the artist Yoshitomo Nara and accompanying texts by his prominent collectors!
This exceptionally beautifully designed book showcases numerous works by the Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara, whilst also featuring texts by Nara fans such as Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day), Deborah Harry (Blondie) and Leonard Nimoy (Mr Spock). Brilliant!
Yoshitomo Nara was born in 1959 in Hirosaki (JP) and studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, amongst other places. Among the most striking, recurring motifs in his work are little girls with large eyes and a weary, almost ghostly gaze. Alongside influences from traditional Japanese printmaking, his work also reveals strong references to manga art, as well as a Western punk rock attitude. In terms of content, Nara often addresses social injustices, though sexual fetishes and fantasy worlds also form part of his thematic scope. Yoshitomo Nara lives and works in Tokyo.
